Stop them!
These nine-banded armadillos don't belong here and if we want to stop them, we have to act fast. How can we do this, well scroll down and see.
You shall not pass!!!!
An effective way to get rid of these armadillos is exclusion(9). If there is a fence that slants outward with some of it buried in the ground, the armadillos cannot get across(9). If we put these fences around bodies of water and along man made transportation routes, that could slow them down, and electric fencing could also work(9). However, this is only one option.
Where is my house?
Armadillos make there burrows out of sticks and leaves and all sorts of natural litter(3). If we remove these bushy areas that armadillos use, they might lose interest and move on(9). But,doing this might take away the bushy areas others animals need to make a home(9). This solution could work but could also end in disaster for our natural species so should be used sparingly.
Its quiet, too quiet.
Trapping is a good idea to get these armadillos out of Illinois(9). The ideal spot on where to put them is along pathways to burrows or along fences where they travel(9). They could either be trapped in a box or live trap(9). Although it is a good idea, relocating is not a good idea(9), because they will just keep coming back. But there is a specifically good idea that would get rid of them.
Armadillo hunt'n!
One of the most effective ways we could get rid of armadillos is hunting them. If we remove bushy areas, then other animals will be affected, if we trap and relocate, then they will come back, but if we hunt them, they can't come back. Even though it can be done, you should still follow all of the appropriate laws and regulations when hunting(9). You would might think poisoning could work, but we do not yet have an affective one specifically for armadillos(9). Not to mention it can be dangerous for other animals that encounter it or would eat the dead armadillo. Better stick to hunting!
